How to use your results

01

Use the page source.

Paste the HTML of the page you want to inspect. For a JavaScript application, compare the rendered content separately.

02

Start with the clear fixes.

Review missing titles, empty descriptions, unclear headings and informative images without useful alternatives.

03

Keep testing the experience.

A valid tag does not establish content quality or usability. Check the visible page with people, keyboards and mobile devices too.

Frequently asked questions

What you need to know.

Talk to our team

What does the HTML checker inspect?
It reviews the HTML you paste for basic signals such as the page title, description, heading structure and image alternatives. It is a check of the supplied markup, not a crawl of your live site.
Will pasted scripts execute?
The checker treats the pasted HTML as an inert document fragment and escapes text shown in its results. It does not publish the markup or run its scripts.
Can it prove that a page is indexed or will rank?
No. It cannot establish crawl access, indexing or rankings from a pasted document. Review the published site and its search settings separately, using the SEO learning guides for a starting point.
