Domain Aliases

Hosting documentation. Account access is coming soon. Always use the server details and nameservers assigned to your own account.

Domain aliases are domains that you own, but do not contain any content. Instead, they point to the contents of another domain or subdomain on your account. This is useful, for example, to hold a domain that you will later sell, or use to redirect traffic to another domain.

To create a new alias, go to the DOMAINS section of cPanel.

What does a domain alias display?

An alias points to the content of another domain or subdomain in the account rather than having separate website content of its own.

Where do I create or manage an alias?

The guide uses the Domains section in cPanel to add the alias and the Remove Aliases area to remove it or adjust its redirection.

Which option should I read about for a separate second website?

An addon domain associates a domain with a separate content directory in the account. That guide explains the distinction from an alias. Addon Domains.
